Astrocade, Xonox, Atari and John Perkins By Adam Trionfo (July 9, 2002)I read this little tid-bit in the "Arcadian" (Vol. V, pg. 121): "ARTILLERY DUEL in another form: Designer John Perkins has revamped his popular game for a company called Xonox, who produce novel cartridges with a connector at each end, to allow for two games in each box. At any rate, they make games for Atari and other machines, so you are liable to see those little guys marching out on almost anybody's screen." That shook me. How much of the programming did John do? I mean, come on, John Perkins and Clyde Perkins (John's father) were Perkins Engineering, the people that made the Blue Ram RAM expansion. I checked Atariage.com, and sure enough, John Perkins is listed as the programmer for Artillery Duel. Check out this link: http://www.atariage.com/software_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=997 Now, here's the even stranger part: click on John's name: he programmed a total of four cartridges for Xonox! They are: Artillery Duel Artillery Duel / Chuck Norris Superkicks Artillery Duel / Ghost Manor Artillery Duel / Spike's Peak Now, that is some NEAT information! END OF ARTICLE
