Multicart FAQ Update April 16, 2008 By Ward Shrake "Despite Ward Shrake's recent (Jan 2008) semi-sorta-kinda-unretirement from the retro-gaming hobby, Ward continues to have zero interest in making and selling multi-carts of any description, for any system, for sale to the public. Sorry! While I am flattered by and sincerely appreciate continued interest in what I once took great pains to make with my own skilled hands, I really did reinvent my life since then. I have quite happily moved on to other things. Ward's interest in the hobby has changed quite a bit, over the years. I do not want what most retro-gamers want. I almost never did: but now, after five years of self-enforced complete absence from the entire retro-gaming hobby -- it's official. I know I?m on another path than most hobbyists. I was once concerned with preserving old games. I am far more interested, these days, in preserving and properly budgeting and carefully spending my own leisure time. I find myself nearly indifferent to the gaming industry's history, these days; or even game play -- but from time to time, when I feel the mood and the stars line up just right, I may be inclined to go spelunking in the mysterious caves of certain obscure, pre-NES hardware systems. But it's more likely that I'll think twice, and will spend time with my close personal friends; or read a good book; or write; or pursue several other hobbies. Ward Shrake's post-retirement feeling matches his previous plans: that is, that no more than fifty of each previously-made multi-cart type will ever be made, by him. That means a rare few additional ones may (or may not) get made at some point; of the Bally Astrocade or Arcadia 2001 types. However, note my careful wording above: "zero interest in ... for sale to the public". Been there; done all that -- and folks, since I ended up sleeping in the back of my pickup truck for weeks and weeks, afterwards: I'm not gonna hurry back! So, while it's remotely possible that a few more multi-carts may get made by Ward, at some totally unplanned future point, it's important to note that Ward does not feel there is any reasonable chance those items will be offered for sale to the general public. Sorry! Just not worth the hassle, to me! Any that do get made, will be as gifts for my close friends; or things of that nature." END OF DOCUMENT
