Cursor/BASIC Express Program FAQ: Volumes 1-3 --------------------------------------------- Version 1.0 December 16, 2010 The "Cursor/BASIC Express Program FAQ: Volumes 1-3," created and maintained by Adam Trionfo (ballyalley@hotmail.com). Table of Contents ----------------- 1) About this FAQ 2) Number of Published Programs and Authors 3) The Programs 1) About this FAQ -------------- Cursor (later renamed BASIC Express at the start of volume three) is an excellent newsletter, on par with the Arcadian. It was created in 1980 as a for-profit newsletter to focus more on hardware than the Arcadian was currently doing. The Cursor/BASIC Express was published from January 1980 - July/August 1981. This FAQ lists all of the programs published as BASIC and machine language listings. It does NOT list all of the small programs that were sometimes listed as part of tutorials, as most of those programs do not stand alone without the tutorial. For instance, if a program was illustrating how a loop worked, then there might be a short example program. That sort of program is not included in this listing. However, sometimes tutorials did have programs that could stand on their own: those type of programs ARE listed here. 2) Number of Published Programs and Authors ---------------------------------------- There were 65 programs published in the Cursor / BASIC Express over the three volume run of the newsletter. This information is summarized as follows: Volume 1 - 24 programs Volume 2 - 24 programs Volume 3 - 17 programs -- 65 Total Programs The 65 programs were published by 28 different programmers. A full one-third of the programs were programmed by just two people (Fred Cornett and Mike Peace). The rest of the programs were split between the other 26 programmers, although the vast majority of programmers (15) only had one program each published. The programs and authors breaks down like this: 1 Program published by 15 Authors 2 Programs published by 6 Authors 4 Programs published by 3 Authors 4 Programs published by 1 Author (Brett Bilbrey) 10 Programs published by 1 Author (Mike Peace) 12 Programs published by 1 Author (Fred Cornett) The 28 different programmers and the number of programs published are: Number of Author Published Programs ------ ------------------ Al Roginsky 1 Albert Paul 2 Alex Morales 3 Alternative Engineering 1 Andy Guevara 1 Bill Mead 2 Bill Templeton 3 Brett Bilbrey 4 Brett Lathrope 1 Bruce De Vries 3 C.J. For simplicity, even when a program was published after Cursor changed its name to BASIC Express (at the start of volume 3), the program's location will still be listed as being in the Cursor newsletter. The location is listed as Volume, Page Number.
